About Me.My Artist Statement

I was brought up in a house where music was a natural part of life.  My Father, a jazz pianist, and my mother was a church pianist, laid a foundation for what would become my future.  Accordingly, while piano was my first instrument, true passion was later found by way of the guitar.  At nineteen, new life was breathed into my music, a new song, if you will, when I became a Christian.  My music then took on a different focus, and writing songs that took on new meaning.

When writing, my love of playing guitar finds that instrumental song, as pieces of music weave together.  Or it might be a challenging life circumstance that sits me down to write.  Perhaps inspired by a Pastor's sermon, or a Bible verse that comforts me where nothing else can.  I begin playing, searching for the notes and words that reflect what is on my heart.  Couple that with  inspiration and usually a song comes to life. Future goals for branching out include recording my own music, and more live performances to grow as a musician.

Where joy overflows or pain feels the comfort of the everlasting arms, in those places my music finds expression.  I always hope my songs can be a comforting word landing softly on a  weary heart, as it has for me.  Since becoming a worship leader, my musicianship has found landing.  Playing with several musicians and gaining experience, brought me to my current vocation as a music director at a local Church.  I love my work, selecting music, developing worship teams, giving others a place to express themselves, it is extremely fulfilling work and I have music all around me.

I am currently studying guitar mastery and composition, in jazz and contemporary music, at Berklee College of Music.  Educated by the best musicians the country has to offer, my experience at Berklee will profoundly expand every area of my work.  As an Instrumentalist and Songwriter, I am especially looking forward to even more adventures in music!
